When I installed LoD, it apparently deleted two characters. I had a lvl 13 necro and a lvl 9 paladin, and now they don't show up on the character screen.
If anyone can help, I'm grateful.
[edit]I should also mention that I had a lvl 3 amazon, which was not deleted.[/edit]

hmmmm. I agree with flatty in the fact that you gain way too much experience in act five(five levels at 32 is sorta high), but other than that its pretty fun. I especially like the new magic and class only items, which are very fun.

I recently installed LoD, and had no problems whatsoever. I converted a Barbarian on which I'd beaten Diablo on Normal difficulty, on normal Diablo II, to the expansion so I could play Act V, and I also have an Act II Assassin. Gemmed Cestus (chipped Diamond) and Deadly Cestus, Helm, Chain Boots, Rare Gloves (I just don't wanna get rid of those gloves!), Chain Mail, and my crony from Greiz does more damage than me with the Voulge I gave him. I like throwing a Wake of Fire trap into a swarm of enemies and watch the resulting chaos....Fried Sand Maggots ala Scarab Demon

And Claw weapons are really cool, with above average damage, fast or very fast attack speed, and the charge-up skills (Tiger Strike; +480% damage with third charge, Cobra Strike; 90% life and mana steal with third charge). Haven't tried Druid yet...But I will soon.

meh, druids are fun, and level fast until act four, then the creatures natural fire resistance gets largely in the way of me(im one of those spellcaster types(I hate warriors(well, not always, the assassin is pretty fun(f*** they do some damage(i play while the comp thinks five players are on and im doing fine(its all about cobra strike, man(Yum!))))))) which gets pretty annoying, though i do love killing izual every time i enter act four because i dont have any waypoints. Assassins just do too much damage though, its crazy, i played with the comp thinking that five players were on and smacked everything i came across, it was crazy. But i have to say, i still favor sors the most, you cant quite beat em(though i shouldnt say this because ive never gotten a level thirty druid(but until then, i love sors(especially ice sors(mmmm blizzard(though now that the casting delays are in it kinda sucks(but its still the best level 24 spell out there(except for maybe energy shield))))))).

hehe, I got a sorc from lvl 1-42 in 5 days. Being bored does wonders. On my first run-through of act 5 started as a lvl 25 and ended as a lvl 37. It was mainly because there were 6 others that jumped into that game. Since then I started a druid and an asassin but havent gotten them that far.

That's rather extremely slow... I got my druid to lvl 78 in about a week... lvl 80 Bowzon in about a week... lvl 81 pally in about a week... working on a barb currently lvl 43 and my brother got his sorc lvl 77 in about 3 days!
Tips:
Leech like a mother fücker till you can do bloodyruns/cowruns in hell. Bloodyruns/cowruns in hell level you up pretty quick, expecially if you're lower level. Ask for help... if you can catch me on US west (acct: *zidra) I might help ya.
Clearification on Ancient kills for Flatty... Norm ancients, gotta be at least lvl 20... at lvl 20, you can get max of 6-7 levels if you fight them at lowest level requirement. ONLY ONCE! Nightmare ancients, gotta be at least lvl 40, and can get a max of 5-6 levels if you win at level 40. Hell ancients, not sure about level requirement, guessing around 60 but I've only managed to get about 3 levels (at level 62 as I recall). And again, to clearify your crap about massive leveling with Ancient runs... not Possible to do Over and Over... for you can only get the bonus exp ONCE. That's if you can even survive the first fight in hell...

Act V isn't all that tough...My only problems are the damn Imps and those things that Overlords turn into suicide bombers. The Imps teleport to the friggin towers or on top of Crush Beasts (the latter is far worse; towers take 2 hits, Crush beasts take 3-4), and launch Inferno while I try to hack them with my sword and axe. One thing that's nice though, is that since the barb I converted to expansion was on Act II Nightmare, I had one of those things that looks exactly like a breastplate, except has a defense level of 280 or around there. All the armors that are for sale are like 140-150 defense. I also have this rare Embossed Plate I picked up in the cold plains, but my level 30 barb dun have enough strength quite yet. One of the neatest things about Expansion is that you can equip your cronies...hire a maximum level crony from Qual-Khek, give him a Giant Sword, Gothic Plate, and a Great Helm....and reap the benefits

All the experience is gained in act 5 doing 8-person Bloody Foothills runs. That and secret cow levels with 8 people.... both very cheap, but very quick ways to gain exp.

You have to beat the difficulty you're currently in. So, you can't do the normal cow level until you've killed Diablo and Baal on normal. Nightmare cows come when you kill Diablo and Baal on Nightmare.

Well, the answer is relative depending on whether or not you're talking about a b.net character or a single-player character. And whether or not you're talking about D:II original or LoD. On b.net it's easier since you can play it with other players and the exp is shared, but in single-player you play by yourself (no duh). And on LoD there's all these cool new features that aren't on original D:II, such as equipping cronies and class-specific items that enhance skills, which makes it easier to gain exp and there's the whole new Act on which you can gain a good bit of experience. my barb was about level 24 when i beat Mephisto, and I entered Act IV at about lvl 28. After beating their current difficulty, most people move on to the next difficulty, where you start the game over with much more powerful monsters and much more powerful wepaons/armor, no matter which vers you play.
P.S. Has anyone heard of the Diablo II addon called 'The Wanderer'? It has an editor for cheating and stuff like that and you can create your own items, which sounds pretty cool.

The sad thing about LOD is that people no longer play the main game.... they piggyback in acts 1-4 doing only the reward giving quests (if at all) and then gaining all their levels doing cows and bloody runs. It's kinda pathetic.....
Anyway, I've got a stash loaded with stuff to trade, if anyone wants to.... rare +2 barb skills lance, Unqiue Grim Shield (+1 all skills, etc), new set items, all sorts of stuff. Account name is Flatulence187 (/msg *Flatulence187)

Ah, one of the benefits of the Assassin is Dragon Flight, a Finishing Move that teleports the Assassin and company onto the target. I'd load up on charges (Cobra Strike, rarely needed potions), and DF onto an Imp to take it out. Even if you don't charge up, its a great skill to use against the little buggers once you do enough damage to take them out with a single hit.
My current character is a 23 Druid on USW named ShiftyBastardEV. He's a warewolf with a nice little army of 3 wolves and an Act2 Merc. Ravens are nice when you go up against powerful baddies, as they kinda peck away at its health without you having to do anything. Not powerful, but if you rely on them to do the fighting for you, its your own fault if you die.
Look for me on bnet (*EVula). All of my good characters are on USE, but my Druid is pretty nice. Can't compare to my 41 Assassin, though.

You ignore the pet. Put out a golem (I remember you saying you had a necro), curse Baal, fire bone spirits, do what you have to do. Cold sorcerer merc is one of the most helpful things in the game.

I'm not really playing seriously much these days... just item finding with my barb. Sad thing is, he does nightmare Mephisto runs with 150% magic find, and still gets exceptional set items, exceptional uniques, and other nice rares.
My necro (lvl 77) has Skins of Vipermagi (+1 skills, +32% all resist, 30% faster cast), Frostburn, rare wand (+2 skills, +50 mana, faster cast, etc), The Ward, one of the runeword helms (+1 skills one), and then some various other crap. Yay.
