You definately need to spend more time on this. get more levels, and find a way of finishing the level. It sure is a beta! Perhaps next time make it a closed beta to avoid embarrasment

A single unbeatable jerky level with a slow low detail ship with one basic weapon and one slow type of enemy. Oh, and the OS X version is a classic application. No, I can't say I think all that much of it.

Have a stop by Ambrosia Members Tonight. Better yet, record some crap and i'll add it to the collection!

For the os x version double click on javaclasses.jar and it might run better and on my computer it isn't jerky. The reason there is only one level and one weapon etc.. is because i havent got round to adding different types of enemies and it is also very early in development.

No offense, but I personally prefer Deimos Rising.

Javaclasses.jar just opens a blank applet window.

As a person working on the story aspect of the game, I can only remind people that it is a public beta, and that you should be thankful that we haven't decided to make it only availible to select people.

My advice, learn something other than java, I've yet to see anyone create a half-way decent java scrolling-shooter.

Not to be harsh or anything, but writing a direct ripoff of Mars/Deimos Rising, in Java even, is not really going to be big hit with the Mac gaming crowd. As Necro correctly suggests, you need to be writing any end-user software in C or C++. Interrpreted languages like Java or RealBasic lack the necessary functionality and speed to produce top-notch games. Secondly, try to come up with a somewhat more innovative idea for a game. Yes, I know more than half of Ambrosia's games are remakes of old arcade classics, but you need to make it less obvious that it's based on MR.

I'm not trying to discourage your efforts. However, I think your time is better spent learning C++ and learning it well. It will take much farther in developing games that Java ever will, if games are what you want to write.
