Full Version: Final Fantasy X, the best FF?

Hey hey,
So who all out there dropped $50 on the newest Final Fantasy. I did, but I'm not anywhere near through with it. So far it's awesome, though some of the voice work could be alot better. I like the graphics alot and the plot seems pretty good so far. I think it could be one of the best Final Fantasy's yet assuming they don't screw up the plot.

Myriad
I haven't played it, so I have no judgements to make. I do know that when a new Final Fantasy comes out, everyone says that it's the best new Final Fantasy. After six months or so, the new game effect begins to wear off, and people's opinions start to change. Personally, I hated 7 and 8, and 9 wasn't that great either.

Besides, six was the best.

Vault Dweller
I've got it and I think it's great even though I havn't beaten it yet. But I wouldn't say it's the best FF to come out so far, that honer still goes to FF7. And as for the voice acting, I thought it was gonna make the game crappy but they did a really good job on the voice acting to the point where it really does add to the realism of the game. Oh well I really like it and i'm looking forward to beating it .

I was watching a friend play it, and couldn't help but notice that, although the graphics were amazingly great, the acting looked kind of like the old godzilla movies. You know where the mouths keep on moving after the words stopped . Anyways, I loved the fighting, the camera view is wonderful, and spells are breathtaking. I need a playstation 2.......badly.

I've not played it yet myself, and based on what I've seen, I'm remaining completely open-minded, prepared to like or loathe it. As for the voice acting, I would have expected the characters' voices to be intolerably lame, but to my surprise they actually fit pretty well, with the exception of Rikku, who sounds about 11 years old and gives me a sudden urge to strangle her every time she opens her mouth.

Yeah, Rikku does give me that homicidal impulse, but the other characters are good. Tidus laughs way too much for his own good though. 6 and 7 are still better in my opinion but X could be the best if the plot picks up.

Ironhorse
An excellent game no doubt, but not the best FF. FFVI still holds that honor.

All I can say... wow. I got this game, my jaw dropped, my ears listened, and my eyes saw greatness. Then, but a little while later later, the new iMac is released. Two companies outdid eachother by leaps and bounds. Personally, I think that the plot of FFX starts out confusing, then goes simple, then gets more complex. I too am awaiting the end of the game with GLEE!

The Space Between
I wish I knew. I don't have a PS2.
I think FFIX is the best, but I wouldn't know that either, because it always freezes when it goes to black when I am supposed to fight the last boss.
I also think FFVIII is the best - at least of those I have beaten. FFVII was pretty cool. (FFIX brought back some great FFVII plots/tech)
And I have beaten VI also. But as far as the trilogy goes, it sucks! I couldn't even get past the first level because I didn't know how to see with the crappy screen shots! And I think I played 1 and 2. But that was when I had My Sega Game Channel! (Remember that?) So I never played it enough to actually know it was cool! I was young.
I wonder if I could get 1 - 3 for PS? NE1 know?

Well, at least in FFX almost everything actually makes sense. FFVI is my favorite so far, but if they don't botch the end of FFX, I'm going to have to make FFX my top pick.

Still, nothing will ever surpass Chrono Trigger!

final fantasy 6(3 here in america) always was, is, and always will be the best party-based role-playing game ever made. period, end of story. chrono trigger was good, but not as good, and i don't particularly like ff 7, 8, or 9--too much focus on graphics and such and nowhere near the story and gameplay of 6(3). 10 is good, but it just can't match 6(3).

Don't go to school to learn that 2+2=4. If you do you're missing the point. Go to school to learn how to add, then figure out that 2+2=4.

10 definitely beats out 8 and 9. However, I'm going to have to give the nod to FF6 and 7. The gameplay mechanics in 10 are excellent, I have to say. The graphics, music, voice acting, all exceeding my expectations by a lot. No FF story will ever surpass 7, though (I'm sure of this, because I was younger and lot less jaded when I first played FF7).

I agree that VI and VII are better thus far, but not by much. I don't agree though that VI is better than VII. FF VI had the best music for sure, but VII's plot was much deeper and there was much more character development. Plus I liked the materia system, and the graphics, even though they seem ugly by today's standard's. I also think Chrono Trigger is better than VI because of the open ended gameplay and kick ass story. I think CT and FF VII are tied for the best RPG of all time.
