This version is still slower than the OS 9 version, and has a few graphical glitches, but it's perfectly playable.

A note: I found that setting the graphics to 32-bit instead of 16-bit actually improved performance.

I'm generally impressed with the outcome. I think the rendering is actually better than in 9, and maybe a teensy bit faster. It makes me squirm with joy just thinking how absurdly fast it'll be when the optimised version comes along! Yet they say music in UT X may be an impossibility. Crying shame.

If you want true 32bit textures; open up the unrealtournament.ini file and set the Texture32Bit line to 1.

Playing God are we?

About UT: I am wondering whether to get it or Quake 3. Quake 3 is such a classic with tons of fans, but for me, that's all it has.
UT has better guns, maps, and mod support. Which is suggested?

I still think Quake III is better, but by a lesser margin than before Christmas, when I bought Unreal Tourney.

UT is infinitely better than quake 3. q3 is alright, but UT is incredible. so many good mods for it too...
