I was wondering if anyone else here played this game with the same amount of frenzy that I do every once and a while. I love Preds and Marines, but once you learn how to play the Alien effectively (and move the Crawl button closer to your hand so you can run up and down buildings easily) you can rip either of them to shreds.

I've also noticed that if you have a two-button mouse (like this one, which is what I use), it really helps, as you can fire or switch weapons with one hand (handy for Marines to fire gernades or pulse rifles, and for Aliens to unleash the tail or claws).

I've only got the demo right now, but I should be ordering the full version off Amazon.com in the next few days. On GameRanger, I'm "EVula" (I'm just so damn imaginative when it comes to names). Find me sometime, so I can kill you. Er, I mean, we'll have a nice, fair game. Yeah.

Try Aliens vs. Predator 2, its even better and it has a plot instead of random missions. Beware of the Disk! Me walks off to sharpen edges of CD before playing AvsP2!

I have that game, and I enjoy it greatly. A tip for Alien players: Make crouch/climb caps lock, and have all of your keys be based around w, a, s, and d for the movement. It's very convenient.

Hey, that's a good idea. Right now I've got right control as the crouch key. I'll try capslock and a/w/s/d for motion, thanks.

Yeah, it really is more convenient with crouch/climb as caps lock. You don't have to worry about accidentally falling, and if you are waiting on the ceiling for your prey to draw near it is much easier.

ha! stupid overhyped egos. Have you ever made a man sh** his pants while you were playing? I haven't, but my best friend has, while as an alien. Twas good fun, he literally had to stop playing for a sec for a bathroom trip.
Ahhhh, those were the days. Now im shaping up my marine/pulse rifle skills, and they are growing quickly.

I love how you didn't provide your GameRanger name, so no one can challenge you.

In further news, because my life is so good in most areas, it has to turn to **** in another: my CD-RW drive, which has been rather faulty since day one, has decided it doesn't like the AvP disc. I'm going to try a few disc images at work to see if I can fool the program with that; if I can, I get to play the full version on my home computer. If not, I get to pay a few hundred dollars for a new drive. Yay!

That is the way to clean up in Half-Life (and mods like DoD or Counterstrike) and Quake 3 (that and skill)

yes, it's generally good to have one config for all fps', and that one or a similar variation thereof is generally the best way to do it.

P_B, I didn't know you have AVP! Looks like a sweet game. Would you suggest it over Quake 3 or UT? Out of the three, which is the best? I do NOT want HalfLife.

I am sure if you call MacPlay or many online retailers, they'll be happy to take your check/money order in the mail, provided you can get it in US$. I have gone that route in the past.

MacMall is the first place i found that actually had it. it's rather cheap for a computer game these days, too.

heh, everyone's starting to call me P_B now...
well, last time i checked, halflife was pc-only...
i would definitely recommend AvP over Quake 3, as for UT... possibly. its not as expandable, but the three races give it a lot of variety, replayability, and mood that UT can't match directly. i'd say they're about equal.
