Anybody else playing SSX Tricky for GameCube or PS2? I can't believe how fun this game is. It's a snowboaring game. You can choose to race against other competitors to the finish line, or compete for medals by doing the craziest tricks.

The tracks on this game are the best/most fun/most innovative I've ever seen in a game.

With so many great games and game consoles, I'll never understand why anyone would want to play a game on a computer.

Can you have hacks or add-ons or mods, can it be cheaper (aka shareware), no save cartridge..etc.

But ya, I played SSX T, beat it with 3 of the characters and raised all characters at least 3 skill levels before having to return it. and got 4 of them the uber boards.
I think I beat too much of it after only renting it once, So I think I would have gotten bord with it soon.

but that free boarding on the untouched mountain is cool, the pipe land was not too great, but the indoor course with the fans and pipes was just awsome. I love just rideing the rail through a whole lap and boosting around the turns.

I have SSX Tricky for Gamecube. It kicks ass. All it needs is online play, and it'll be perfect.

I will CRUSH anyone in showoff mode

Umm, no, I guess not. Now here are some questions about computer games for you:

1. Can you play it in the comfort of your living room while reclining on your comfy leather couch/sofa?

2. Can you play it with four friends simultaneously all together in the same room?

3. Can you play a variety of different games effectively and comfortably without investing in third-party controllers/joysticks? (playing a game with a keyboard is for masochists only)

my bed is my chair at my computer table.

2. Can you play it with four friends simultaneously all together in the same room?

With 2 in the same room, so close.. tongue.gif mabe another 2 in the room if I move the work computer to the other side of my desk. Oh...it has to be the same game?
Of course PS2 is only 2 at once also without a control spliter or another unit.

3. Can you play a variety of different games effectively and comfortably without investing in third-party controllers/joysticks? (playing a game with a keyboard is for masochists only)

Sometimes being a masochist is the best way but if you have the right equipment, the keyboard can be without pain. mmm jell pads.....

1. no, but i cant play a console in my living room either. my computer room chair is comfortable enough.
2.Yes. and i dont have to put up with a tiny quarter of a screen either...
3.What are you talking about???? Keyboard is the way to go! i use my keyboard(and mouse, when required ie 1st person shooters) for all of my games, with no jell pads either!
how bout this:
1. can you play a game with 32 people simultaneously?
2. can any console have a halfway-decent first person shooter? (only one or two that i can think of qualifies as even halfway decent...)
3. can any console have a halfway-decent real-time strategy game? (not that i can think of...)
4. does ambrosia make console games?

to stay on topic...
ssx tricky is a pretty good game. my friend rented it for a little while, and it combined with tony hawk 3 tided us over until the release of Super Smash Bros Melee, the best console game ever released.

Well Perfect Dark, Turok and Goldeneye are exellent fps. And all the new consoles have internet connections. And only a very stupid person would buy a computer just to be able to play games. And it's alot more fun to play with 4 friends in the same room. Rather than playing over the internet, well you could play 32 friends at a geeky lan party if you want. And the N64 controller rules when playing fps the Turok style rules. Sure you can get lots of hacks and other lame things for a computer game and spoil it for yourself.

Back to the topic is SSX Tricky better than 1080 snowboarding? Because that game rocks!

Bah, it's too arcadey for my liking. 1080 snowboarding and Amped: Freestyle is where it's at...

goldeneye sucks ass. turok is ok, but the multiplayer is annoying. perfect dark is one of those 2 examples i could think of. it is not more fun to play with 4 friends in the same room unless its something like smash bros, which is console-only anyway. for playing fps's, no controller will ever, EVER beat a mouse. the mouse is the reason why fps's are infinitely better on the computer. the n64's controller, with its control stick, is better than, say, a psx controller, but it isnt even in the same league as a mouse. as for getting "hacks and other lame things" only an idiot would do that anyway. and my point still stands that computers are far better at rts's, possibly the best kind of game, unless EV is a genre .

I can sit on my bed with a gamepad and play games on my computer.

A few gamepads, a guy on the keyboard, hell yes!

You have to buy your controllers, unless you console ships with some. Same with the computer, I don't see how this one is even an argument.
Actually, the computer has a lot more to offer as far as controls go. You can use a keyboard, a variety of gamepads and joysticks, and the all-powerful MOUSE. 1st person shooters suck ass without a mouse.

Stick to the topic, folks -- I think we've all agreed that both consoles and computers have their advantages as gaming consoles. Let's move along, or, failing that, at least keep the debate localized to one topic ...

Has anyone played the original SSX on PS2? If I (well, my mate) has that, is it worth getting SSX Tricky?

From what I know, Tricky is SSX with modified courses, plus a couple new ones. Also, there are some new tricks, and you get to go down another side of the uncharted mountain.

Go to IGN.com; they'll probably have some stuff about the differences.

Both are excellent games, but there isn't anything revolutionary in Tricky. There are better games you could spend your money on(FFX, Ico, Jack and Daxter, Devil may Cry, ect).

i think that they will come out with a modem adapter for the gamecube, because if you look at the bottom, youll notice that the big part of the bottom you can take out is labelled for the modem adapter. (sorry to go bak so far into the thread)

Maybe this way we really will be able to see who will crush who in show off mode.
