Will there be any sequel to star craft? It would be cool because star craft is getting really old. But you never get tired of playing it on b.net

I don't think there will be any time in the future... Starcraft is an awesome game, and almost perfectly balanced. They'd have to totally re-do everything for a SC3 (which would actually only be SC2)

They could add new races and add some new mission to the ordinary

They could explain the real identity of Duran and the Xel'naga invasion to those people who didn't get to the secret level in BW...

Starcraft has a lot of potential, and if Blizzard is wise, they will milk the franchise to the bone.

Starcraft FAQ from http://www.battle.net/scc/faq/general.shtml:
Will you be making StarCraft II?
We have not announced any current plans for StarCraft II. We are all very close to the worlds and characters we created in the original game and the expansion set and while we do intend to revisit that universe, we have no plans to do so at this time.

I don't think I need to add anything to that.

Yes, SC2 is being made. There will be more races (ex. hybrid Zerg/Protoss) as well as the Xel-Naga. They are going slow because to make a good game, it takes a good amount of time.

Could you explain how you know this? Or are you not allowed to say? All I've found is that they intend to do it someday.

While what Desert Fox seems just speculation, it would make sense if they're developing a sequel. Personally, it was SC's story, not it's gameplay, which I found very engrossing. If blizzard want's another big project after WCIII, it will most likely be SCII

Oh well.

Yes, I've played PC users who had hacks that gave them a few dozen siege tanks in about 30 seconds, which they proceeded to besiege me with. It wasn't much fun at all ...

Whee, the only good point about StarCraft 64! You have to actually earn cheats, and the more powerful the cheat is, the harder it is to earn it. Not that this makes up for the grainy graphics, split-screen multiplayer, missing cut scenes and voices, censored dialogue, etc. ...

I assume you mean from Brood War? It's gotta be you. Valkyries are a bit iffy at times, but Corsairs and especially Devourers rule. Nothing else in the game has the sheer power of screwing up any air unit like the Devourer does. Arbiters with Statsis field comes sorta close, but you can't shoot them when they're under that. Corsairs are also quite good in combat, and D-webs can be very useful.

Valks are the greatest for killing air stuff! They work especially well against higher tech stuff whereas Corsairs kind of come up short in the killing department except against the zerg.

I suppose they could be, I haven't used them since the newest patch came out, and I know they kicked up the damage. One of the problems with them is that the games I play where the tech tree makes it to the point that they bwecome useful are the "shared base" money maps, and due to the massive firefights screwing up their shots, they become worthless.
(I usually prefer very small maps (bbath) to money maps btw, so don't think I'm a mega-resources freak)
I find Corsairs tend to be excellent in general for killing anything air except maybe Battlecruisers and carriers, which have too much armor. I've seen a group of Corsairs outnumbered ~3 to 1 go through a group of Wraiths in well under 10 seconds, with few casualties.

I think all the new air units for BW suck except for corsairs. Their only good because they have D-Web. For the original topic, I don't have proof but I think there will be a Starcraft 2. I think so because at the end of BW, a whole new storyline is introduced. Some people might dislike Blizzard if they introduce a new storyline and just stop there. Besides, if W3 and WOW are succesec, Blizzard might make more games in the starcraft, diablo, or warcraft storylines, movies, or something like a tv show, which would be really cool.
Begemotike
Blizzard has officially stated that they love the universe and characters they created (with the way they treat them, funny kinda love!) and would love to return to it someday. I'd say that pretty much guarantees a StarCraft 2.

And, Corsairs seem to only be good in high numbers, otherwise, they act more as attack deflectors, giving you time to knock off the baddies with something else.

For the record, though, love the protoss.

If you think about it logically, the people who buy W3 and play on b.net will most likely be people who already play a game over b.net. There really won't be much "extra" traffic, just fewer people playing all of the other games and instead focusing on W3.

Hopefully Starcraft 2 will feature the excellent balance that made the first one such a hit. Also, all of the new air units are pretty cool, except for the Valkyrie (in my opinion) because it's way too expensive for it's use. Devourers and Gaurdians together are one of the best combos in the game.

------------------
nikebro123
Gaurdians, Devourers, and Mutalisks. Wraiths and Valkyries. Carriers scouts and Arbiters. There all good combos and since air units are often the higher tech they are more powerful, but its always fun to use some ground forces like hydralisks with ultralisks or seige tanks, marines, and goliaths or reavers with goons. There all good I personally like to use mutalisks with ultralisks and hydralisks great waste an force. Star craft 2 is a definent yes which we will hopefully hear about in the future.

There are lots of combos and they're all good in defferent parts of the game. Tanks for example is very good when your assulting bases and for defences.

Guys, they are not going to announce anything until they've milked WC3 to death. They want everyone to get distracted from a possible SC2 and instead, go out and buy WC3. Once they've sold a billion copies, then they'll start dedicating their frontpage to SC2.

Then you don't get to see the special mission.

It's not "ruining" it, either. The campaigns are ridiculous, and the game uses all the cheats itself (at least, it uses operation cwal). I was just leveling the playing field.

If the makers of the game had wanted a level playing field, they would have designed the game that way. As it is, I think the level of difficulty is, if not perfect, definitely reasonable -- there's a reason Starcraft is one of the most popular games ever.
