Jaysus.

I don't think any of you americans will know about this, but European-Extreme mode is so, so hard on Metal Gear Solid 2.

I can't get past Olga. You're not allowed to shoot off the tarapin or the search light, she is very tough and one shot from her kills you. ARGH!

Even if I do get past her, or skip straight to the Plant, how am I going to beat Vamp? Or Solidus?

Hideo, why did you make it so hard?

Well it is called Extreme mode.
Sucks about the cover and the search light and all. If one shot kills was the only difference, that would have been cool. "real life mode"...without armor that is

No, it is not called Extreme mode, it is called European-Extreme mode, added only for the sales in Europe. Your hardest mode is extreme, which we also have. I guess we're a little luckier, huh?

One shot from Olga kills you. Soldier shots are powerful too, but I play it with the 'if you get seen you die' mode, so that doesn't really matter to me.

On a similar note, does anyone know where the big bomb at the bottom of Strut A is on Hard mode? Rhe sensor beeps in the same place(bottom of submarine), but there is no sign of a bomb there.

Are you sure that your looking in the right part of the sub?
Its smack dab in the middle bottom of it.
Get as close to the edge of the pool with out falling in and it should be there.

Hideo makes the greatest games! I remeber when I played MGS1 and that Physco Mantis demostrated it by making your controller shake

You mean Physco Mantis. Yeah there games rock and are practically interactive movies. I beat MGS2 in one night on normal, but it gave me one hell of a headache.

I will look again, but I'm pretty sure it isn't there. It was there in Easy and Normal, but not Hard.

I just sprayed the coolant where it should be, and something froze. Also try getting at it from the rear of the sub, its easier the rail stops you from falling in.

****.

Sorry mate, I read into it wrong. Thought you saying it was only extreme mode, didn't realise you actually meant 'well, what did you expect?'

I'm completing the game on extreme mode. No map and end game when caught. Just entered the plant (**** it's hard).

Here you go:

QUOTE
Strut A Deep Sea Entrance (Boss)
The bomb is here.  You have to use the sensor B to find it.  You have
to crouch near the pool to see it, under the sub, then spray it.
(EXTREME): on extreme the bomb is on the left wall, near the top, on
top of some stuff.  After that, you will get into a messy boss fight
(*20).  After this, go in for a transmission from the colonel.  Travel
to the strut E heli-pad where the last bomb was.  Beware, there are now
mines planted on the Strut A roof.
(EXTREME): Run back and forth like a crazy wiener dog and do the flip
whenever the boss gets the laser on you.  The boss will fire twice in
quick succession, so stay moving.  Also, don't try to hide, because
with the insane fire rate, the boss clears the room in just a few
seconds.

You better up my karma Mazca, it took me bloody ages to find that for you.

I have now defeated Vamp. My fingers are worn to the bone. My face is a permenant picture of utter concentration and frustration. I'm so tense that if someone so much as slapped me I would crumble into a million pieces.

Now I look forward to fighting 22 impossible-to-kill Metal Gears. If it weren't for my stealth and brown wig I think I would wither and die. I now have a nifty 189 dawgg tags and the blue wig will soon be mine!! (just another 172 to go).

Also, has anyone managed to find a way to climb the wire in Hold No 1? Doing 100 pull ups doesn't increase the grip gauge like it did in the Japanese demo. I can't figure it out.

Also, I hear that only us Europeans get not only the extra hard extreme mode, but also a casting theatre and boss survival. Is this true?

When I did the pull-ups it increased my grip gauge (on normal level anyway), but the extra grip did not last after I saved and reloaded.
