I just got it..anyone have hints?

well...All I can say is...

- don't use too much static defense (bunkers, cannons, sunkens) Excessive defense will drain your economy greatly. Plus, how are you going to win the game by only defending?

- Be agressive, but be smart. If you notice a weak point in your opponents base, attack it...right away. Be smart about your attacks, too. For example, don't send units that can only attack ground against air units.

- Make sure to climb the "tech tree" as much as you can, so that you can get stronger units and better upgrades.

- *Always* upgrade your units, especially the attack/defense upgrades. Although 6 damage and 9 damage doesn't look like much of a difference (I'm talking about the marine), the difference between 72 damage and 108 damage is huge.

- Expand. Whenever you see an open patch of minerals and gas, take it! You'll boost your economy greatly if you have multiple bases collecting resources instead of one.

Other than that, it's up to you to come up with your own strategies. Experiment, and adapt when the situation requires you to. If you think that you might be doing something wrong, after finishing a game on battle.net, save the replay and watch it.

Get many gatherers, and get them fast. This is vastly important.

Expiriment, have fun, try out all the magic units. The point of a game isn't just to win everytime, try different techniques, have a fun time working out your own startegies, save before big battles in single player and try different tactics.

Yorick has hit an important point: don't do the same thing every time.

<edit>Even if it works, it just makes you less versatile in tough situations<edit>

Yeah. Watch out for Zergling/Marine/Zealot rushes. To counter this I usually play on an island map...

And watch out - in my opinion, the Protoss computer player is a lot more dangerous than the Terran and Zerg ones - the Zerg is the easiest.

A good way to learn is to play online alongside humans against computers. Ask for some tips and they'll be sure to give them to you.

Well, this is a GoSu Starcraft player, so listen up. First, don't put all your resources into rushing, make a "tech tree"(ie. Protoss, make a Cybernetics Core before you zealot rush, Terran, make a Factory(be sure to wait for medics and firebats before you attack) and Zerg, make a lair) If you lose most of your attach force, don't send in two more if the terran enemy has 20 tanks behind a wall, its pointless. Instead, make units like high templars to counter them. Most people don't think to do this, but use the stasis field on enemy units to put the out of the way for a while, then put units around them to kill them as soon as they come out.

Playing on a map with water? Can't get into the enemys base because they have a inpentrable defense? Well, look no farther then your own tanks. Siege across the water to kill the turrets, then have dropships with marines, firebats, medics, goliaths and tanks waiting to drop in. Don't refrain from dropping a few vultures with spider mines into you enemys gathers, you can take them all out. If their terran and lift, have air units ready to punnish them.

Feel like attacking from the front? Use a force of a few gaurdieans on the back to draw their forces back, then attack from the front. Don't attack when you have your 24 lings, wait until you have fully upgraded lings and hydralisks to attack. Be sure to attack in the proper order, like melee units before range unitsm depending, of course, on the defense you are facing.

IMPORTANT- In games with more then one enemy, be sure to leave a sizable defense at your own base, because smart players will, instead of saving their ally, go for the leading attacker's base. Oops, you just sent out your 60 guys and have NO defense. Well, any good player as your enemy and you can kiss your ass goodbye, because put your head between your knees, because your going down.

One last thing. You see people with 12 factories, and you want to do that too. DO NOT make more producing building then you can handel, because you will have 100 minerals and 12 factories, not a good position.

If you ever want to play on Battle.net? with me, come to channel Clan i[D] and ask for GreatBob[iD]. I hope this helps, and remember, you can't become good overnight, you must play for a long time to learn everything.

Good Luck on all future Battle.net? Indevers.

Yeah but you should atleast get some defence units before teching, but if you are playing lost temple with terran you could always block the entrance and tech rush just remeber that it will only stop larger units like zealots. Lings will get through.

Yes, this is a good idea, but you must practice it many times before you get it down, and be sure to get a GOOD defense of at least 6 sunkins and 2 spores. This is one of the most evil things a zerg player can do. To protect against it, get it, get e forge or engernering bay early and put sieged tanks+turrets near your CC. As a protoss, put cannons right next to your nexus and around it, especially on the outside of the minerals. Hope this helps.

Hmm, are you sure that 6 sunks is a sufficiently gosu defence? A player has to be pretty damned good before they can call themselves gosu, I'm friends with someone who is frequently in the top 10 in europe. Just like to see you play before you say that.

No offense, I'm definetely ready to get my ass kicked if you are.

What gateway do you play on?
