The update to probably the best Unreal Tournament mod was released a couple of weeks ago. This new version has better physics and game play. I hear it is better then Counter Strike. I'll be getting it on Monday. Can't wait.

You can get it here

tacops has always been better than counterstrike and likely always will be.

Don't go to school to learn that 2+2=4. If you do you're missing the point. Go to school to learn how to add, then figure out that 2+2=4.

I'm afraid I really can't agree with that. Before, tac ops was nowhere nearly as good as counterstrike. The graphics of the levels were better for a while, but that was about it. There are so many little things missing from Tac Ops which just make CS better to play.

Now, the most recent version of Tac Ops is the best, and at this point it is really competitive with CS. I'd say that they are about equal, depending on your opinion.

Tac Ops Goodies:
- *SEXY* maps
- Nice looking guns
- Nice sounding guns
- Pretty good damage model (the grenades in CS are terrible. You can throw one down on the ground and stand on it, and it only takes away 85-95% of your health)
- Looks better in general
- Mac compatible!

CS goodies:
- WAY better character animation. Maybe this is just a weak point of the UT engine
- Levels with FAR better layout. The TO levels, while they look really nice, have a pretty bad layout. Basically, they are just corridors leading on to each other. There are a few different ways in on each map, but in general there isn't much scope as there is on the CS maps.
- Jump crouching from Half Life - very nice, makes the whole game feel more realistic.
- If you have a PC, there are more people who play it, than TO. All my friends play it. I wish I could persuade them to play TO

That pretty much sums it up. I really like both, and I have made maps for both. I wish those few CS advatages would be fixed in TO, then it would rock.

But what I'm really looking forward to is the next realism mod to be in Unreal Tournament 2003 - that will totally rock The incredible physics, the proper vehicle support... mmmm. Probably that will be the realism mod which the PC players play too. I can't wait - I will be there when they start to mod for it
