for the past two hours, i have been playing deus ex. did i like it? lets go through it step by step:
1) after the insane start-up time, i finally got to start the tutorial. while interesting, and somewhat easy to figure out (after you figure out how to use the keyboard), the graphics suck, i don't like playing twister on my keyboard, and the pistol shoots for ****.
2) so i finish the first two training levels after blowing myself up with the mines twice. then i get into covert ops. oh joy, sneaking around on my ass, running into 3-d characters with faces that looked like they got hit with a sledge hammer. then they see me and hit an alarm. 20 minutes later, i pass the level more annoyed that overjoyed.
3) then i get to start, and after more insane loading time (slower than a hundred yard dash) i get to see a crappy movie. my life is complete. now more loading time and i'm in new york. lets start to shoot stuff WITH ONLY 6 BULLETS. great. so i go find some crates, figure out how to use the guns (shooing at the birds is fun, a point if you can hit them) and i get started. 10 minutes later i die. no biggie, i think, lets just start over.
4) <insert movie and load-up time> lets try this again. so i go up through the mission, make it to the back of the statue of liberty (note that here, i'm missing one leg as it was shot off.) slowly but surely i walk up the back end until i make it to the entrance. guns ablazing i walk in and get my other leg blown off. some punk shoots me, calls me a fascist, and runs (i thought that was actually cool and realistic). then i walk up the steps, or rather bump my way up the steps (a la lt. dan) and then get shot and lose an arm, my torso and my head. then i stopped.
how do you think i felt about it? if you liked it, great, i think i'll stick to rainbow-6.
