who else here is really looking forward to warcraft 3? i think it looks really friggin' awesome, and it will supposedly be released simultaneously with the windows version, which may mean a dual-platform cd, which may mean that i can actually go buy it at a store instead of ordering it online...

Just a simple question can I run it on the old imac? Because the usually make their games compatible with old computers too, but the graphic seems to advanced. But I guess what we all are waiting for is Starcraft2

It depends on how old. Judging by the graphics, it will probably require hardware acceleration, I'm guessing a 8 MB card minimum. The Bondi iMacs won't make this limit. Its even possible it might require 16 mb.
On the subject of simultanious release-I know Blizzard has been pretty good about this in the past, but I notice the Beta testing is open for windows users only...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but i believe blizzard usually tests the mac beta with an internal testing group.

on the subject of older computers, war3 is pretty advanced, so its likely that it wont run on many older machines. i pray it works on my G3 333 mhz with 352 mb of ram and the ****tiest graphics card in the world, at least until i can get a new iMac... they are awesome.

Starcraft 2 will be some much better than Warcraft3 
Well im going to buy them both anyway. Hopefully it will be Starcraft2 that Blizzard starts to work on after W3, or maybe they will start a new francaise. Aslong they don't start working on Diablo3 because that would suck so hard.

Hm juding by the latest screenshot #23 it seems like the undead is going to be similar to the protoss in SC.

not really. it seems like they will have some elements of both protoss and zerg... zerg b/c they must build on the blight, protoss b/c they can start summoning a building and then go away. their gold harvesting is like nothing ever in any game before, and their units are... unique, to say the least.

Actually protoss has to build next to pylons that generates some sort of blue stufff. So they are more similar to the protoss than the zerg. Hopefully the cd will be a hybrid so I don't have to oredr it.

First impressions (these are always popular ):
First of all, let me just say that it is very overwhelming to be thrown into a game such as WC3 and have to play with no "ease-in." Consequently, it was very difficult to play (the first two times——it actually seems much easier to play than Starcraft [interface-wise]).
I played two games: one with the humans and one with undead. With the humans, I tried to follow the general strategies of go around and level-up your hero. And I did. I got a Level 6 Paladin who ended up dying 3 times (ugh). Unfortunately, since I didn't expand enough and I didn't know the tech tree I (and my teammate who was on his third game) got squashed. The other team was really good, comparatively.
The second game, I won. I was the undead (by accident——I meant to be human; forgot to switch). I tried to go up the tech tree a little faster, and it worked. I also leveled up my hero (a lich) faster. We won mostly because it was 2 v 1 somehow. But my teammate did all the work.
Gonna have to play some more this evening. It's so overwhelming!

It's a pity, I'm gonna get nailed on the system requirements. I'm about 100mhz short (that's bareable), and my graphics card is about 14 mgs short (that's not bareable). Ah well, I suppose it's my own fault for not doing better in school.
