I have a bit of money, and I'm picking up some N64 expansion packs and games for me and a friend on eBay, and I'm wondering if I should go for a Donkey Kong 64 / Expansion pack combo. Is DK64 any good?

Yes!
But I actually prefers the Snes version of Donkey Kong, you should get Perfect Dark too

I like DK64, but I love Perfect Dark. If you are looking for a good platformer, go with Mario 64, Rayman 2 or Banjo Kazooie/Tooie instead.

DK64 was fun but I got bored of it after awhile.....there is alot of variety and some great moments.....Perfect dark is good.....BanjoTooie is just as good as DK64....

Banjo-Tooie is just TOO expansive and I think DK64 suffered the same problem. Too much for a casual gamer. Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie were perfect for casual gamers and Zelda 64 was too, just with a bit more stuff in it. A great game to go for on the 64 is Ogre Battle 64. Im waiting for an Ogre Battle game on the cube all because of that one game. It brought me to loving OB.
