Full Version: Anyone ever played 'Stars!'?

It was a turn-based, multiplayable, sci-fi strategy PC game, sort of in the same vein as Master of Orion II but much bigger universe with more customiseable races and ship building. But the graphics were crap. Other than MoO, has anyone seen anything like it for the Mac?

I'm waiting for MoO III coming out from MacSoft......personally I don't know of any other type of game....

I played Stars! for over five years now, and it really is a great game. I do not know if there is another game like it for the Mac community (I'm a PC user myself), but at this moment the successor to Stars! is in development. In fact, I got the address to the Ambrosia website through a post on the forums of the lead Stars! Supernova Genesis (the successor) website.
The problem (and maybe your solution? ) is that they haven't found a publisher yet to fund the remainder of the development cost. Maybe this is just wishfull thinking, but with Ambrisia as publisher, there could very well be a Mac, and maybe also a PC version of the game.
Please do keep in mind that I'm just another fan of Stars!, and that I do not know in full detail how the developers at Mare Crisium think about these things... I'm only here to arouse some interest.

Welcome, Tahngarth. Please have a look around and fear the quality of the Mac gaming domain!

OK, here's the deal. I'm just wondering how many people are interested in the Stars! Supernova Genesis project and whether they would play it. Currently in the sci-fi strategy category, Ambrosia have EV, EVO and EV:Nova (flying/shooting/trading mission based strategy) and Ares (real time strategy). Other companies examples of turn-based strategy include Master of Orion and Alpha Centauri. Is there any interest in a turn-based multiplayable game like S!SG? Check out the link on Tahngarth's post to crisium.com. It really does look like a great game.

I'm not calling on Ambrosia to publish the game and please, don't anybody else. That's entirely the domain of moki & co. and none of my business. What I am suggesting is that if anyone's interested in the game and/or concept that the Mare Crisium team are working on, go and show them your support. Of course, if anyone knows a software publisher willing to take on the title, that would be even better.

(Apologies to Andrew and Ambrosia if I'm treading on any toes)

Dingo - I wouldn't worry. I don't think any Ambrosia people actually read Just Games.
