Has anyone ever played a game called "Star Control 3"???
Its an older Mac based game (I don't think a PC version was ever released) that has some parts that are just vaguely similar to EV, but has interaction to animated alien characters with audio, multiple choice decisions that shape the game, allows you to inhabit & develop planetary systems, make or break relationships, fight various foes ship to ship, and a few other interesting features and functions. Its quite entertaining (at least to me).
I have a CD copy of it but haven't played it in quite some time.
It periodically locks up my system, which is why I haven't played it recently. MacSoft who helped develop the game with another company I believe called "Accolade" gave me some things to try (like changing memory requirements, is virtual memory on/off, ram disk on/off) but it hasn't resolved the problem yet. I don't think this game is available anymore which makes finding tech info that much more difficult.
Has anyone ever had this problem, if they have ever even seen this game??
Any feed back would be welcome.

I have it but I've only played it 2 times. It was an okay game but I have better things to do than play it (and I'm to lazy to read the manual ). Of the two time I've played it however I never had a problem with it. You were wrong about one thing though its not that old, it was made in 98.

Just in case someone wants to try the game I saw about 5 copies in a used book store.

Thanks for the feed back. I thought it was older than 98 but then again most computer stuff is out of date in 6 months to a year now days.
Maybe I have a lame copy that is giving me some trouble as its still a problem on 3 different Mac systems.
It sounds like at least you have a manual to utilize. I've been winging it all along.

I've played it, and got pretty far, but found a puzzle that just wouldn't solve.

What was the puzzle??
I haven't finished the game yet.
I got to the point where the alien race that consumes sentient life forms and their star systems enters the galaxy and I battle them, but I haven't won yet.
I think once thats accomplished the end game is pretty much done.

It was the one where you had to reunite the Chesnu and the Mhrnerm (or however you spell them), and I think I needed to land on a rainbow world to get one of the things. I got a radiation scoop and container, but it wouldn't let me use them!

hmmm, I think I had that problem also at some point but I don't recall how I got around it. Were you allowed to go to the planet once the squid people from Iwo Prime?? (for lack of a better term) considered you honorable??
