Since the gaming market is largly dominated by PCs, I have almost decided to buy a PC (an Alienware, not some ****ty Dell or something)
I'd like to know if the following games are/will be on a mac.

Half-Life
Jedi Knight 2
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Counter-Strike
Marrowind

If they are/will be on a mac, then I wont have to join the Micro$uck drones, but I'm afraid I have no choice...

Jedi Knight 2 is the only one confirmed shipping within a few weeks, and Counter-Strike is in the process of being ported, last I heard. Half-Life was going to be ported, but then the project was scrapped... although there is a chance of it being picked up again, several companies have expressed interest.

Marrowind, I don't know. If it is a CURRENT big hit on the PC, it is a virtual sure thing that it will, as these days, any game that is a large hit on the PC will make it to the Mac.

However, there is nothing wrong with owning a PC to play games, you know. If that is the ONLY reason you have a computer, and are okay with learning how to manage the various problems that a PC gaming machine can raise.. then by all means, go ahead. Sitting with the Mac 'just because' makes no sense. I use a Mac for a trillion things, that need to get done, which is why I use a Mac.

Um why does you list Halflife and counter strike since the last one is just a mod?

Besides there are better 'realistic' mods for Unreal Tournament and Quake3

By all means, getcherself a gaming PC, and get a copy of X-Wing Alliance - greatest Star Wars flight sim ever! And don't forget about Freespace, or - well, you get the picture. I'm a flight sim person myself, and the Mac is extremely disappointing in that field. I've got a copy of Rogue Squadron on my N64 to tide me over, but I really miss X-Wing Alliace & Co.

I assume you are talking about Elder Scroll III: Morrowind . If so the game is a single player RPG that makes use of 3D graphics technology. It's available for the PC and X-Box. I haven't heard anything about it being ported to the Mac as of yet.

Knights of the Old Republic is an upcoming Star Wars based RPG. It is scheduled to be released for the X-Box this fall, and for the PC next spring. No plans for porting it to the Mac are mentioned on the site, but if Galactic Battlegrounds sells well on the Mac it's possible they'll see the value of porting more Star Wars titles.

Are they porting CS???

CS is a HalfLife MOD for crying out loud. CS two will (last I heard) be a standalone game. Maybe that will be ported. And I won't say that CS won't be ported, but I sincerely doubt it, for that would mean porting the HalfLife Engine. And seeing as how HL never ported to the mac... Well...

If you ARE going to buy a PC, get iot custom built, or else you'll most likely have bought a piece of crap.

The idea was gone like a balloon impaled with bird shot before you had even started typing. Software emulation is so utterly not good for modern 3D gaming it's not even funny. If you tried to run, say, Freespace on an emulator, you might get it to install. Play at modern graphics standards? Well maybe if you had a dual ghz G5.

VPC sucks.... sucks, sucks, sucks
Plus, my PC will be free from the tyranny of my parents (I'm gonna be paying for it, so ha!) and will be set up for security, hax0ring lamerz, pr0n and everything else. and I'll have PGP running. Like to see my dad by-pass that!

I personally think that the Mac gameing company is growing. I mean I will admit my parents got a free PC (hay it was a Free computer) from their office and I played Age of the Empires 2, Worms, Tropico and there all out for mac now! Also I was in Target today and they have set up a Mac section for games along with Best Buy. because personally the gaming companies are really getting mad at microsuck because they outdate their games way to fast. I have also had 3 friends that were PC drones but converted to the Mac side because they were sick of their PC locking up all the time. Also if you do own a Mac only the good games come out for it so you do not need to worry about getting ****ty games. Also Mac Addic has all kinds of coming soons and games reviews. Personally if you ask me I think we're on the break of a gaming revolution!

I saw you talking about VPC and they can run some games on your mac I have one such as rollercoaster tycoon, rebellion, worms, and some others even though it may not be that good it is still fun to brag with it (like my Mac can run PC games <insert snotty laugh> )

No VPC can handle some 3D games they run knid a slow but are still worth playing such as Tribes! most of those games run like a charm but they take a wild to load.
