Ahoy all,
My friends and I are trying to set up 4 computers to play a large game of StarCraft. We are using an iBook, Titanium, iMac, and some stupid XP laptop. I was wondering about how to set things up. I know that you need a hub and some cables for an ethernet network, 4 StarCraft CDs, but is there any thing else I need? Will their be a problem with the XP machine not communicating with the Macs? Any other stuff I need to know? Thanks. I posted this on Just Tech too, so that I can get help from two areas.

hmmm... well, heres what I usually do. For our lan parties every time weve connected through a hub, then through a router, with ethernet cables. The PCs will have to set up a network together, but my mac seems to automatically connect to it even though I cant see their computers. When we host a game it usually works fine. Every once in awhile you will come across a game that the PC computer has to host, or the mac might have to host. I have only tried this with os9.2.1 and 10.1.x. It should work fine, Ive never tried SC over lan, but Ive played warcraft 3 and diablo 2 over lan. You should be fine with out the router, we just use that so everyone can access the internet. Also, you dont need 4 cds you know, you can just use spawns.

edit: Forgot that for this to work you need to have TCIP settings at ethernet using DHCP. What was said in Just tech works too, although Im not sure if its PC compatible, the one I just told you works for me, and you dont have to type in annoying IPs.
