Not corrupt by evil... Though I suppose one could argue that having spent all that time down... there... He's not corrupt by anything anymore. I guess we'll just have to wait until the expansion set to find out.

Sure does, they're the elves' primary unit!
I suppose from a game play stand point, but it's still just a descion in gameplay, and doesn't effect the story a whole lot.
Anyways, I never used the supposed primary units. Forinstance, in the undead campaign, I just made a few dozen (well, two dozen) Necros, and let them use Raise Dead... It's quite a cool strat, but doesn't work worth a **** vs human players.

Blizzard should have paid attention to bungie's Myth and Myth II as far as archers go.
My thought exactly.

In WC3, Archers (and riflemen) are way too cheap and way too underpowered. How is it a pointed blade flying towards you at 90 MPH does less damage than a sword smacking you?
Some people would say the exact oppisite, that melee weapons
should do more damage then Ranged weapons. (not me, but I've heard the arguement before.) Bungie did ranged/melee balance superbly in TFL/M2, but you have to remember that the engines are wholey different. You can literally dodge arrows in Myth, but in the craft engines, everything follows you, and hits nomatter what. Thus powerful ranged attacks don't work quite as well in the craft series.

Errr, are you talking about the World Tree, or the Tree of Life? Regardless... Relax, it's just a game.

For one, I had to put the gamma on highest just to see a thing, and even then I have to regularly use the "riseandshine" cheat, because when it gets dark I still can't see. I can't play the Undead Scourge very easily either, thanks to their damned Blight adding to that darkness.
Lemme guess, G3 iMac?

Besides that, it's all very cartoony, even more so than Starcraft in its own way. With the scenes at the beginning and end of missions, they made no effort to mask the fact some people are bigger than buildings...and it looked horrible.
That's actually something that's annoyed me about the craft series, and many other RTS' too. The thing that really bothers me though, is that it's stupidley easy to change the size of a unit in War3. Certainly Blizzard could have sacrificed some time and effort to make it a bit more realistic. (But then, how do we know they didn't? What if they tried it during beta and it didn't work out?)

The unit quality wasn't all that good either, but that's because I had to set it to low for it to work reasonably enough (still lags, which is upsetting.)
Don't try to complain that everything looks crappy and that it's running slow on out-dated hardware. You'll never win.

The balance doesn't feel right either. Starcraft was so perfectly balanced it was unbelievable, but in Warcraft III so much is just plain wrong. Ghouls are the cheapest starting unit, but can beat Archers and Footmen easily and give Grunts a run for their money. The Orcs and Undead seem to have every advantage over the Humans and Night Elves, especially the humans, who seem to have found themselves caught in the area of "average" humans are thrown into in fantasy stories/games so much they seem utterly crap. The Night Elves aren't as bad, but they're fairly underpowered in places it looks like they shouldn't be.
I'm waiting to complain about balance issues until I've gotten a few dozen more AMMS (or whatever the heck it's called.) games under my belt. That way I can confidently state what's wrong. I agree though, the balance is definately off. But how much so remains to be seen.

As earlier said, ranged attacks just don't seem to work right. Blizzard made it so that it takes a lot more to kill enemies (280 HP being low, and 70 damage being high, in place of Starcraft's 25 HP being low, 30 damage being high), and as such, long-ranged fighters suffer badly, as melee fighters have much more time to close in.
I guess we'll just have to hope that they get it right in Starcraft2.

There's something else about the game I can't quite put a finger too, as well, which really gets in the way of me liking it. I've read about all the units before it came out, and again after, and done several tests (Banshee's to possess enemies, continue after victory, then test) of units, but for some reason, nothing works in the field. Maybe it's the interface, or the background, or the constant lag, but the game just doesn't work for me...
Some people just can't play/don't like some games. Well, better get used to it, 'cause that's not gonna change.
