That was indeed one of the better games in existance. And I actually managed to dig up a CD of it, too bad Classic SUCKs so it doesn't play well.
Dude, there's an OS X
patch. Not to mention a plug-in version for Myth 2. It's really rather nice to be able to play TFL with units that remember their formations.
Now for my list, since I don't think I ever posted to this topic. I think I'll stick to all the System 7+ gaming I did, prior to getting a 400 Mhz iMac ~5-6 years ago, to make it easier, since I played a lot of old games after getting that computer that I really should have got to before. This would be stuff I played on a 75 MHz PowerMac 7200.
- Reliant. It was like a typical top-down space game, but with a very Star Trek flair. You do missions, upgrade your ship, pick crew members, and so forth. It was really hard though.
- I'm going to get it out of the way right now: Any Ambrosia game, especially EV/EVO. (Well, EVO mainly I guess.) The only ones I played exclusively after 500 MHz became commonplace were Diemos, Pop-Pop, and EVN. Because they made some of the best games in the days of <100 MHz, I am a poster on this forum today.
- Descent. Seriously, some great times were had playing LAN games of Descent. And it was kinda epic and creepy, navigating through endless bizarre mine shafts with crazy robots.
- Glider Pro. "Slumberland" was an epic. I can probably still beat it too... but I never found more than 3/4 of the rooms.
- F/A-18 Hornet. Actually, this came to mind first, when I first started thinking about this list. A lot of people have mentioned X-Wing, and while I probably loved that game more and played it more, Hornet evokes the most nostalgia for some reason. Too bad the later sequels have failed abysmally to bring the series into the modern era (though I still do love me some Korea).
- Crystal Caliburn / Loony Labyrinth pinball. Too bad I have to buy them again if I want to play in OS X.
- Rebel Assault. Low-res ported from DOS bummer that it may have been according to Mac User, it was my first CD game as a kid and I loved it. Actually, it still seems like a very fun game if I play it today. Some good atmosphere. Rebel Assault 2 not so much though. Leastways, the demo sucked.
