Seriously, I suck at 1:1 fighting even when I have something like a rocket-launcher and my opponent(s) have enforcers. I just can't aim or evade while shooting very well.

However, give me a sniper rifle and put me atop the Facing Worlds towers, and every enemy on the map is dead, including the other snipers. I am the sniper god.

Great game. I suck at online play, but I find playing against 8 or so Average bots on an extended deathmatch to be a great stress reliever.

Oh, and only wusses use the Sniper Rifle for sniping purposes - take it into melee, like it was intended! (Though the Ripper is more fun for the same purpose - ie, point-blank headshots...)

To change the topic slightly, what skins/voices do y'all like to use? My current favorite is to use the Nali skin with the Devil voice (from the U4eT mod) - I find that flexing all four arms at once nicely complements the taunt, "Heh heh... foolish mortal." Plus how can you not like a voicepack including the command, "Go forth and wreak havoc upon the world!"?

I get the FPS up to 55, and average about 33.

I just downloaded a demo today, and I was wondering, is it just a complete fragfest, or does it actually have a storyline? The original Quake had a storyline (I think) but Quake 3 doesn't. Is UT just like Q3?

UT and Q3, aside from both having two letter abbreviations(nifty, aren't they), are extremely similar(UT is better(TacOps!!!!!)). Both have little or no story, and are around purely to kill things; the way shooters should be(except Deus ex(which just kicks a- heinie))

FPS stands for first person shooter. Not frames per second. The frame rate is quite good, actually.

Actually both are correct. Frames per second is in the dictionary though, I suppose because it has been around longer.

it's a fun game... not my favorite shooter. My favorite shooter has to be... Urban Terror. It's a TC mod for quake3... but it's better than every other game based on the quake3 engine, commercial or not, including quake3 itself. It is free and available at http://www.urbanterror.net.

600th post! Kinda little since I'm registered in early 2000... Had to regregister with that Ares bored reinstall thing.... oh well.

UT's a great game. The graphics and atmosphere suck beyond belief, though, so I tend to think that Q3 engine-based games are better.

One of the special features I love about Unreal Tourney is the special mission section. I love that type of stuff, which is why I got into RtCW multiplayer so easily.

That's one hell of a bot. It uses the cloak, shield, and extra health, is extremely agile and fast, and is deviously smart in ambushing the player.

The first time I beat Xan, I used cheats. That was a while ago, and I still haven't been able to beat him without cheats (got very close though).

I hate Xan with a passion. I managed to get 14 kills while he had a measly 5, yet he still managed to beat me. His is the satan of game bosses.

I managed to get 15 kills while he had 14... Kind of a one-upping thing, but I got started first. This was on the second easiest level, but still...

I once got a Monster Kill on Deck 16 with my Sniper Rifle.
Granted I was using the Akimbo Arena Mod (all weapons are 2-handed), but it was pretty cool.

You can get the Akimbo mod here

It's really fun to jump up into someone's face with dual flak cannons roaring away at them.

Try to steal those super-powerups, even if they don't help you, preventing him from getting invisibility and the shield belt help go a long way towards evening up the match.

My favorite mods:

-ChaosUT (unfortunately, doesn't seem to work well for me on OS X)
-Unreal4ever Tournament. (once you set it up so that it uses its fun weapons rather than the insane overkill ones)
-MatrixMoves (too bad the bots don't do them)
-GIANTS (players get bigger when they kill others and smaller when they die - helps balance things a bit)

There are others, but these are the ones I'm most likely to use when taking a few minutes of Practice matches to unload my pent-up aggression...
