Full Version: Vandenberg mission problem on Deus Ex

I've been having some trouble at the end of the Vandenberg mission. After you uplink to Milnet and Daedalus and Icarus merge to become Helios, Bob Page is supposed to contact you at the communicator in the lab. I've already done this mission once without any problems, but now, whenever I go to the communicator, Gary Savage doesn't talk to me and Bob Page never shows up. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, do you know how to fix it? I'm trying to go through to see what happens when Jock doesn't die on the last mission, and if saving Paul does anything at the end.

I'd attempt to 'use' both Savage and the communicator. And make sure you haven't already done that, it might've gotten mixed up in your mind due to a re-load or something. I've seen stranger things happen.

I 'used' Dr. Savage several times, but he never says anything. And the communicator is not 'useable'. When I went through the first time, Bob Page started talking when I got near the communicator. Nothing this time around.

This is after the uplink has been completed, right? When you return to Savage's lab you should be able to see Bob Page's hologram in the communicator before he starts talking. You've used both consoles on the two levels of the zap-filled room beforehand?

I can't say I've seen this bug before (if it is a bug). You might have to go to an earlier savepoint and run through it again.

I completed the uplink. Helios was born. I am beckoned back to the lab, and Savage is waiting in front of the comm, which is either blank or has the Earth on it. I know that Bob Page is supposed to be there before you get there, because I've played this level before.

By the way, I did go to an earlier save point. Several, actually. I even started a new game and cheated my way through up to that point, and still had the same outcome. This is starting to piss me off. If I skip to the next level, then Jock dies.

Should I just email Aspyr about this?

Most likely the game is old enough they won't care much, but they may be able to give a remedy.

BTW, I ran through the game with Jock alive but not Paul and never had this problem. I'm going through again with Paul alive but not Jock and to see what happenes, but have not gotten this far yet.

I started over again as well (again). I just rescued Paul from being killed in the 'Ton, but then it crashed so I have to rescue him again.

Well, I don't know what I did, but it worked last night. Unfortunately, Paul died. I don't know how, I killed all of the "Guys in Green" in the 'Ton, and he said he was going to Smuggler's. Oh well, thanks for the help.
