I have re-ignited my affair with Alpha centauri and found a bud who loves the game too. He, unfortunately, is a PC user, but would like to get together an have a game or two across an LAN. I have heard that some games do not have the correct code or protocols to commuicate cross-platform and I was wondering if Alpha Centauri could or could not do so. I am also curious as to any software I may need (especially if I can get any freeware) in order to play cross platform.
Any help would be great! Thanks!

Um, not sure if it can be done. The game was origionally made for PC, so it might be easier to get yourself an emulator for PC gaming servers. Beyond that? Not sure.
[sidenote] Also, what machine are you using? Did you buy that new computer yet? If not, you should look at the message I posted (for you) in the Ares Trash Talk section, to get a better look at your options. [/sidenote]

Oh yeah, the deeds been done for quite a while. If I
had to emulate, though, I think I probably could. Our new G4 would be
quite capable of running Alpha Centauri. However, it would be nice to do Mac-Pc, ad easier, my iBook is slighly more portable than either my friends computer or our G4 Tower.
