Don't go to school to learn that 2+2=4. If you do you're missing the point. Go to school to learn how to add, then figure out that 2+2=4.

I had always thought Rare was just another name for Nintendos in-house developers. It seems odd that a company that is so invested in making games for one console would seel out to a chief competitor. Probably doesn't matter, as I don't own a GameCube or an XBox.

What games did Rare make?

The Donkey Kong Country series put them on the map ad being big-time. They are also famous for Killer Instinct, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and the Banjo-Kazooie series.

As some other sites have pointed out, many of Rare's old developers have left, such as those who worked on Bond, and the effect on the GameCube may be minimal. I, however, am sad to see them go, since they made very high-quality games. To see them go into the Microsoft superfortress and add credibility to the XBox is disappointing.

Also, for a non-IGN artice, you can go here. Since nothing official has been stated by either Rare or Nintendo, I think that all the articles are speculation (although it can be fairly accurate speculation -- IGN does have a history of reliability even if they do suck now and are noe PR tools for gaming companies).

Stay tuned. Film at 11.

I love Rare. I love all the classic games that they've made. Them moving to Microsoft won't change my opinion of them.
