Full Version: People On battle.net are dumb
Ambrosia Software Web Board > General Interest > Just Games

They just are. Everyone on team games just goes to some strategy site, reads a build order, and does it without even thinking about what it means. So when everything doesnt go all there way they freak out and leave. I just lost 5 games and won one tonight, and It was because people just couldn't change. Everytime one or two of my teamates would never respond to any sort of message, they would just build there order to their hearts content. Even in one case when the enemy massed ALL air the guy didnt say a word and continued building grunts and tauren. Whats wrong with these people. I dont think I can advance beyond level 9 because I lose/gain 50/50 experiece for a loss or a win. These people -do not- seem like they should be level 9 at all. Theres literally no way beyond luck that I will ever increase beyond level 9 if I keep on getting teamates like this. Battle.net must change its current system so that the winner of a team game isn't decided on how many newbs someone has on their team.
In closing, my sn is PyroTheDragon, I'm on around 5:00-7:00 PM central time every day, If you see mee, give me a msg, I need intelligent teammates.

I know. Earlier in the week I lost a LOT of games, consecutively no less. I'd say half of those losses were due to some form of foolishness on the part of my teammates.

However, I've kept at it and won 8 out of my last 10 team games in the past few days (yes, I'm a little obsessed at the moment). I'm lvl 7 in team play, shooting for lvl 8.

I've noted the times you're on; I'll try to catch you. Perhaps we can do a 2v2 and/or 1v1 together?

Least on starcraft there's Use Map Settings maps and melee. Or just free for all. Makes it not so dumb.

It's only temporary. From level 10-12 on, you will get less retards as allies. Or at least not so retard that you can't save the situation if you are good yourself....

I am level 10, and I expected the same that you say, but unfortunatly its just not the case. And yes, I did know this before, but I had never seen how deep it could go until I played all those games. The problem is the people dont leave if they suck. There are 4 types of people on b.net
1. New and malleable: You can tell them what to do and they want to learn, so they are actually reasonable teamates
2. New and dumb: They don't listen to you, they are too focused on doing there build order that they read off the internet that doesnt really work (necros and banshees ONLY is very popular these days)
3. Old and cool: Good.
4. Old and "I dont understand why they dont get the game yet": These people are the same level as me, why do they suck so much more than type 1?
There are way to many type 2 and 4.

Very true. You can kill half the people in a comp stomp (cause record inflation sucks) with mind games. On my own, I've been able to back stab 6 other people because they were clanners or assholes. You'd think they would know how to play the bloody game, but most of the time, they're so stubborn they refuse to admit that their idiotic strategies don't work. Like vultures. And ultralisks.

Just to be clear, I never back stab in real, balanced games. That's stupid. But I do kill comp stompers. They suck. Half the time their response is either "I'll hack u" or "OMG WTF" Idiots like that need to be taught a lesson..

Not really. In high level games (I'm lvl 14 actually), most people know how to play, so those with superior micro and hot key knowledge win. Newbs don't have that knowledge.

In big team games, it is actually acceptable if a player focuses on casters for their "star-spell". Posession is deadly if the banshees are covered by necros and item-loaded, shelled, powerful heroes. As for necros, granted, skellies die easy to about everything and a few WoN eliminate em in a flash, but if you manage to catch your enemy off guard (without WoN) for one second, skellies are deadly. Also, the 5 seconds the intermediate microer will take to notice you are crippling his units can turn the tide of many battles.

But I agree, big fatto armies (80 or 90/90) with weak level 2-3 heroes and far too much casters (non-hero spells can be dispelled, so I never put too much hope in casters) are in these days, and noobs still don't understand how pros manage to beat their gigantic armies with a few upgraded ghouls, 6-8 gargoyles and 2 well-experienced heroes.

Usually, these guys are those who reached their level by surprising ennemies with 90/90 necros or mass chims and never got confronted with expert microers.

Very true, and it's very hard to root out the people who aren't complete idiots, because reasonable people on bnet are hard to come by, at least that's what I've found.

Or there are players like me who, out of good fortune, win enough games to be level 3, but don't actually know what the hell to do and can't figure it out because the WC3 RPG-like system is difficult to observe effectively. In Starcraft it'll be pretty obvious why I died, but with WC3 all I can ever tell is that when our armies finally locked horns mine died for some reason. The fact that my cpmputer can hardly crank out more than 15 FPS in a pitched battle also makes things difficult.

What's really annoying is that when I finally learn exactly how to play the night elves according to what the enemy is doing, I suddenly get pitted against a bunch of people who come knocking on my door with an all-out rush before I've had a chance to do anything. Even more humiliating, their rush was so superior to my start that my friends and I can't fight them off.

I hate people who join games and leave once they start because they screw there whole team over!

Tonight, I've been treated to 2 other reasons why battle.net people are far, far, FAR beyond dumb.

1. I HATE how everyone gets down on "laggers" and tells them to not lag. What the hell can be done about it? Nothing. Yet they persist in telling you "don't lag out" and what's worse is many INSULT you for it WHEN IT ISN'T YOUR FAULT AND YOU CAN'T CHANGE IT.

2. I REALLY *censored* HATE people in team games who, when things go south, remark "I was great, but my teammates sucked" to the other team (what, are they trying to look like expert big shots?), and/or when they go out of their way to tell a teammate how much they suck and how newbieish they are if they make a mistake or get killed. Some will do this for no other reason than that a particular ally doesn't move as fast as he likes and/or doesn't do what he wants him to do. Screw the little bastards. There's no Goddmaned sportsmanship in it at all, and totally reeks of pathetic immaturity. If I could, I'd physically slap every person I've played with who's acted like that...SEVERAL times.

Sorry, I needed to vent.

the most frustrating thing is when you get the N00B FROM HELL. Tehy are the admitted n00bs who ask for the team's help and then completely ignore it. Case in point would be a paticular 4 v4 game. My team was 3 NEs v 1 low ranking human vs. various other races. Early on we ( the 3 expirienced NE players
) told the human player to build some early defence to ward of a rush (NEs early on are not good defenders). He completely ignored us and said quoue "thjey would never try that". Sure enough 30 sec later he was wiped out by a relitivle weak rush.

Dâmn it makes me mad.

Bah... I hate the people much more for their comments than for their playing style. Every time I read "u r a stupid fag lol" scrolling down the screen, I lose just a little more respect for the battle.net community. Often times I wonder if it's worthwhile playing on a server that packs in the idiots like sardines...

Wow, I can imagine how much this must suck for you. I've never really gotten into b-net except when I play one of my friends on his map because their but I still know what you are all talking about. The thing that pisses me off the most is that most of the people who do these things are the true newbies because if their build order dosen't work their screwed. I've only played a few games and I'm usally told that I suck. While when compared to real players thats true the people who tell me this only win because of some cheap trick that when it doesen't work they just quit. I don't know any rushes, build orders, mass attacks, or really strategies but in honesty I'm still better than most of the people who say I suck because I'm at a lower level. The only good thing that ever happened was I was playing some jerk who was higher than me only because he used some build order. By complete luck when I was hit by his rush I barely managed to surrvive, but he still persisted with the "omg u suck n00b" crap. The funny thing was that since he had expected the build order to wipe me out he had no more resources and never bothered to refill any of the units he lost. In the end when I found his base it was almost completely empty and I destroyed it with a level 4 dreadlord and 2 abomonations! Thats about when I decided that unless their 5 ranks ahead of you chances are they can still suck.

There's probably some rule that says you can't be higher rank than your FPS in a pitched battle. Fortunately, you might be able to make it to 15 - I'll never make it past 2.

Ouch. Actually It'd be rather nice if I could get 15 minimum. In the nasty battles I tend to play at anywhere between 5 and 10. Once, when three enemy armies were in my base partying and attempting to break through the plug that my army formed while my hero sat back and starfalled away I swear I got down to 3 FPS. The only way I knew what as going on was by the sound effects. Of course the memory of that battle is kind of sugar coated because it made me win the game, but I've lost count of the number of times I've failed to control my hero properly because my computer decided to spin up the CD-ROM drive (the most annoying thing in the world - why couldn't WC3 have a prevent cd spin-down option?) or was going too slowly.
