Full Version: Theme Song of One of the Best Games Ever

Yes! It's true. I uploaded the Marathon theme song onto my website (http://www.evula.org/pfbgames). Well, it's from Marathon Infinity (Aleph One). It's the music that plays when you start it up. TURN UP VOLUME! The beginning is soft but just wait a bit and it gets louder.

Here ya go. [link removed]

Took a while to do it because I don't have a mic and I had to put it onto my iBook from my MiniDisk. Had to use my brother's iMic along with a cable thingy.

For your enjoyment.

You do realise that, unless you have permission the music's creator, what you have done is illegal, right?

I agree with draconix; unless you have permission from Bungie, it's not yours to pass around.

It was okay...but my favorite game music ever is the music from Myth II...man it's incredibly good. Gives me shivers.

Espeically in the little intro part, where at the end, soulblighter in raven form is standing over alric...

/me dies from shivering

I'm inclined to agree, though since yesterday I've had "Mars" (or whatever it's called), the piece of music that makes up Ev nova's intro music going round my head. But then, that was cool even before Nova existed...

I always thought it was cool that if you put the original Marathon CD in a CD player, it would play all the music from the game. (although skip track 1, as that is where the game data is stored ) I liked Leela's theme myself.

Does anyone even bother to read signatures these days?

They stuck a secret audio track on WC2, I believe. It was this crazy song with the units saying things they would from being clicked too much, and such. It might have been in the game, for I never beat it, but I don't think it was.

It might have been the expansion, actually. All you have to do to check it is find a WC2 (Expansion?) disc and play the last track in a CD player.

Just a thought, now that Marathon is open sourced, is it still a breach of copy-right to use the music?

Technically, don't the rights to the songs still belong to Power of Se7en, who wrote and produced them?

Is it just me, or will Aleph One not play any music at any point in the game? Despite what the prefs say, no music plays in the background.

Why should I see your website when I can just play Marathon ?

No, I can never get music either, in Carbon or Classic. Bummer. I'm on the developing mailing list, so I would bring it up, but my email is acting screwy right now.

And it's just Power of Seven. 7 isn't 'v' even in 1337.

I tracked down the Marathon 1 music from my CD a while ago, but it was just too techno for my taste. It didn't even bring up nostalgia, because for some reason I never heard it when playing Marathon 1.
