How many people still remember this ancient game? Can someone recommend a modern equivalent?

I remember it. My brother had it on the PC, although I can't say it was my type of game at the time. I was eleven and very much enjoying Mortal Kombat 2 on the SNES.

However, it's very much like another old game that came before it called, "Walls of Rome." If you don't mind the graphics you might try and dig it up somewhere.

If you want a modern equivalent try Sid Meier's "Alpha Centauri". It's basically everything you probably loved about "Ambush" with alot of added extras and a better story line. In AC you have seven factions that were split up on the newly colonized Alpha Centauri. They immediately begin to try to further the ideals of their faction across the planet.

You have all sorts of ideologies and such, which leads to a very interesting plot. It seems right up your alley htjyang. If you're into Ambush, you should love Alpha Centauri.

I already have Alpha Centauri and if it's the best approximation of "Ambush", then that simply means there is nothing that approximates the latter.

In "Ambush", you're not really an independent force. You have to rely upon the established powers whereas in Alpha Centauri, you represent an individual government.
