I spent ages trying to think of something to say in defense of that statement... but I just can't.

Only if it included the expansion and you played it online.

Yeah, Avatara, I think having this many options makes it rather difficult to settle on a clear victor...
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 09:57 AM
Not if you get >21 people to vote.
Pallas Athene
Sep 16 2004, 10:51 AM
Besides, who needs a clear victor anyway? Shouldn't we just have some flame wars?
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 10:55 AM
Saturn crushes your duck, you lose, Mr Loser.
Pallas Athene
Sep 16 2004, 11:00 AM
Probably crushes the boat too. How can you expect Saturn to float a boat if it can't even float a duck?
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 11:27 AM
The duck is much smaller than the boat. The duck has to hold up all of saturn on one tiny spot, compared to a much larger ship that could spread out some of the mass across its deck.

Sep 16 2004, 11:31 AM

I'll just have to fix that!
Moonshadow
Sep 16 2004, 11:34 AM
No you don't.
Dice rule, you cannot deny the truth.
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 11:40 AM
I rolled a "20". My critical "20" means Saturn turns your puny dice into space dust - and plastic particles.
Moonshadow
Sep 16 2004, 12:35 PM
Actually, by the gaming system I currently play, you butched your roll major time and Saturn got sucked in by a wormhole, leaving my dice quite intact and well.
Nice try though.
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 12:41 PM
Unfortunately, the wormhole was so close to the gravity of the Earth the boat is floating on, that it tunneled back around and Saturn appeared beneath your boat, scattering your dice across the seas where they can do no good.
Moonshadow
Sep 16 2004, 12:53 PM
How unfortunate that Saturn and Earth do not go well together and we now have a bunch of large rocks floating around space where Earth used to be.
On the plus side, my dice survived the destruction, fortunately having been submerged in now frozen water.
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 02:09 PM
Need more...gasoline...
And my planet's interference has sunken somebody's vote, your dice no longer have the lead!
cache22
Sep 16 2004, 02:27 PM
You left out some really imprtant options, like "5 seasons of B5 on DVD."
Ahem, "The Interstellar Alliance sends rangers in a fleet of Whitestars to rescue the survivors of Earth (along with assorted frozen dice.) The Whitestars avoid being destroyed by the rogue planet Saturn by opening jump points inside its atmosphere, making good their escape."
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 02:31 PM
Okay, so the dice and the White Stars have both abandoned the boat floating in space. Objective failed.
cache22
Sep 16 2004, 02:34 PM
Oops.

Still, if you've got a Whitestar, who needs a boat?
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 02:39 PM
Its like one of those video game missions where you have to hold off an enemy army for fifteen minutes so they don't steal some priceless artifact of immense power. Why can't you simply use that artifact to wipe them out, rather than having to punch them in the face and push buckets of paint into them?
Its all in the mission objectives.
Dark Jet
Sep 16 2004, 07:52 PM
Mission Objectives:
-Dice must not be in the lead of the poll
-Screw the humans on earth, save Saturn with a fleet of Whitestars
-Escape within 1 hour of jumping in, and make your excape by opening a jump point in the boat
-Make sure the Whitestar convoy is not destroied by the Draq or bad spelling.
-All human victims must die
-Have fun
-Pay Avatara lots of money

-Try to beat the poll master at his own game
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 09:21 PM
Ha-Hah! Who's winning now?
Pallas Athene
Sep 16 2004, 10:25 PM
Yes, but there's no way for us to know you haven't rigged the poll in your favour. Therefore, even if Saturn does "apparently" win, it doesn't really win, because for all we know, you're a dirty lying poll-cheating scumbag.
I just realized I left my dice at home

Should'a brought those to college with me. And for the record, I would've brought a duck if I had one.
Avatara
Sep 16 2004, 11:52 PM
Saturn isn't winning, some people are voting for B5, which trumps your dice.

Sep 16 2004, 11:55 PM

LotR teaches us that such is not the way of true rightousness. Thus spake Elrond in chapter 2 of book 2: "We cannot use the Ruling Ring. That we now know all too well. It belongs to Sauron and was made by him alone, and is altogether evil. Its strength, Boromir, is too great for anyone to wield at will, save only those who have already a great power of their own. But for them it holds and even deadlier peril. The very desire of it corrupts the heart."
