QUOTE
First one sheep jumped to its death. Then stunned Turkish shepherds, who had left the herd to graze while they had breakfast, watched as nearly 1,500 others followed, each leaping off the same cliff, Turkish media reported Friday.

The sheep fell 15 metres (yards) to their deaths in a ravine in Van province near Iran.

In the end, 450 dead animals lay on top of one another in a billowy white pile, the Aksam newspaper said. Those who jumped later were saved as the pile got higher, cushioning the fall, the daily newspaper Aksam reported.

"There's nothing we can do. They're all wasted," Nevzat Bayhan, a member of one of 26 families whose sheep were grazing together in the herd, was quoted as saying by Aksam.

The estimated loss to families in the town of Gevas, located in Van province in eastern Turkey, tops US$100,000 (84,000 Euro), a significant amount of money in a country where average GDP per person is around US$2,700 (2,268 Euro).

"Every family had an average of 20 sheep," Aksam quoted another villager, Abdullah Hazar as saying. "But now only a few families have sheep left. It's going to be hard for us."

I tried counting them as they fell, but I was asleep before I got to 200.

Wow, that's really funny. It's sad for the families who are, more or less, screwed over by this event, but it's still pretty funny to think about happening.

I wonder what the first sheep was thinking. I know that the others were dumb enough to follow, but what in Gods name was the first one doing?

The lead sheep had obviously formed a cult, controlling their brethren; they probably suspected that people knew about them and planned accordingly. tongue.gif

It visited evula.com, saw the inevitable takeover coming, and put itself out it's misery.

I laughed at the title alone. That's pretty funny.

I hope for the sheeps' sake that there was something attractive (food or something) that possessed him down there. If not, it would be a good amount of empty deaths.

It must have been hilarious and tiring to watch.

It was flirting with a cute female sheep. Seeing a beach and having poor eyesight*, it decided to go there for a nice long walk. The female followed, sheep society is still very male-dominated and the males are therefore always right, no matter the hesitation of the female. Others saw them disappear from sight, and being curious about where the two lovers where going, walk over to spy on them. Seeing them at the bottom and therefore fare away, they moved in for a closer look. After that everyone followed, not wanting to be left our.

*C'mon, they mistake a sheepdog for a sheep. They are obviously different, for one, the dogs has straighter hair than the sheep. And have you ever heard a sheep bark? That might be hearing, but it supports the notion that sheep aren't too bright.
