Been playing Escape Velocity and the other Ambrosia games since they were getting shipped out on shareware discs with MacAddict back in the 90s. Figure its about time I put my money in for all the fun I had.

Mixing 2-D action in the form of spaceship battles with adventure gaming is a really appealing combination that's already proven itself in two previous incarnations of the Escape Velocity series, and it works again here.

Nova is really a wide-open space exploration game at its core. Gameplay is rich, the storyline is deep, and the universe looms large as you man a small space ship set to travel distant galaxies in search of wealth and fame.

Escape Velocity Nova is a great game with the expandability that will keep you playing for years to come. If you're still not sure you'll like EVN, download it from Ambrosia's site and give it a try. You won't be sorry you did.

With EVN you have the classic feel of the EV series, plus an improved graphics system, OSX native, and storylines that suck you in and make you want to order out for pizza 5 nights in a row! EVN is a must have for anyone who likes ANY form of space/RPG. Trust me, the download is worth it, and with such an expansive plug-in interface you will be getting far more than $30 ever bought a person before!

EV Nova is what I've been looking for in a game!

Where, oh where do I begin? Thank you, thank you, thank you... for your time, your energies, your humor, your desire to be perfect, your story telling capabilities and your achieving the game which has me setting aside important work just to get a couple more accolades from the Heraan House and the Polarans. Your web board support is fantastic. Cool. Keep up the wonderful work.

Escape Velocity: The game that made 3 Windows junky friends buy 2nd hand Macs.
Great going guys... thanks for making me lose days at a time playing instead of going outside! ;-)
Hope these 30$ go a looooong way.

Thank You. Not just for the game, but for everything.
Sticking with the Apple platform through the tough years. Showing that it doesn't take millions of dollars and top of the line graphics to make an awesome game. Staying with shareware in the face of rampant piracy. And finally (well, not really, I could go on for a long time if given the room), for making EV, EVO, and EVN MAC only so I can laugh at and convert my PC friends! :) (I used to be PC only too...)

Escape Velocity: Nova is a must-have for those who are tired of the standard Warcraft / Quake / Diablo / Civilization ripoffs (or even those that aren't). The price is right, the system requirements are good, it runs in OS X and OS 9, there's a great demo for those who want to give it a whirl first, and - in short - it sets out to do everything it was intended to do.

EV Nova is a stunningly involving game that more than matches the addictiveness of its predecessors.

In Escape Velocity Nova, mankind has spread out into interstellar space, populating dozens of planets orbiting stars near and far from Earth and the Sun. You start out by assuming the role of a new shuttlecraft pilot (male or female, your choice). You travel from system to system with cargo and passengers on board, earning money as you get each to their destination.
MacCentral
I put games like Escape Velocity at par with commercial games. That's one reason why people are so excited about Escape Velocity, the work put into it and the creativity behind it put this shareware game at higher quality than it's price.

One thing that keeps the game interesting is the variety of missions - some are only offered on a particular planet, some require a specific type of ship, and some require a proficiency in combat.

Instead of letting you play a game as a ship pilot, EV lets you live the life of a ship pilot. The possibilities are endless.

Escape Velocity is a universe of crime, villainy, adventure and death. There are tens of star systems to be explored, friends to be made, and enemies to destroy, all in a very complete and in depth universe.

You have no idea how fun it is to fly around blasting pirates, bribing your way onto military space stations, buying highly illegal outfits for your ship, maybe even buying a new ship, taking off, disabling and boarding some innocent traders, and then doing a few cargo missions for money to round it off.

Escape Velocity: Nova is a fine addition to Ambrosia's legendary series, and it is still one of the best laptop games available. Very few shareware games are worth purchasing, and this is one of the select few.

Nova's star system is GIGANTIC. Even now i haven't yet discovered all the planets, and ive already put about 24 hours of game time in it.

Free trader. Smuggler. Bounty hunter. Independent merchanter. Whatever name they give themselves, they are easily recognized - a small, heavily modified ship, legal record not entirely clean, contacts in every spaceport and trouble on their tail. Which is what makes them so cool, and such great material for computer games!

True, it's not exactly free, requiring a US$30 registration fee, but once you get into it that 30 bucks will seem insignificant. Traverse the universe trading, fighting and making a nuisance of yourself, all the while exploring galaxies and laughing at aliens with oddly-shaped heads.
