Multiwinia is a multi-player real time strategy war game unlike any other. A chaotic war is raging in a fantastic fractalized world populated by bloodthirsty little stick men with a mission: follow your orders to annihilate their enemies. They will do your bidding no matter what the cost: order them to take that hill, flank the enemy or run screaming towards the flame turrets. The Multiwinians are bent on destruction, and if a few hundred of them have to be incinerated to get that flag, so be it!
While Multiwinia shares its rendering engine with Darwinia, there the similarity ends. Multiwinia is all about gaming with new friends online and doing whatever it takes to blast them to bits. Choose from 6 furiously-paced game types with 40+ maps to choose from, online or in single player mode.
Play against your opponents and the clock - capture and hold as many bases as you can before time runs out. There are 9 maps from which to choose, with varying degrees of obstruction and complexity. Controlling a spawn point guarantees a fresh supply of new troops. Create Generals to automatically direct new recruits to their first mission immediately or into formations that improve performance in battle but slow movement.
Your goal here is to occupy and hold as many zones around the map as possible, for as long as possible. You get points for every second your team has more troops in a zone than your foes. Be careful though - concentrating your soldiers in one location makes them vulnerable to any of the more devastating of the crate contents: submarine-based nuclear strikes, meteor showers, napalm, or air strikes.
Nine challenging maps make for endless ways to win. Or lose.
Giant statues are placed at various points around one of nine maps. Your Multiwinian troops, while tiny and two-dimensional, are charged with hoisting the statues and carrying them over uneven terrain back to your spawn point - all while taking enemy fire!
The goal is to bring as many statues to your base as possible, while thwarting your opponent's efforts to wrangle their own statues back home.
When you look at the description of this challenge, "Assault a heavily defended position and capture a WMD before it detonates and everybody dies," it looks like a slam dunk. There are four spawn points, you have scores of troops, and the WMD must be defended from four attackers.
On the surface, it looks like you just need to gather your forces, work to exploit an opening created by an opponent, and you're in.
Ah, but that's where the gun turrets come in.
Don't worry though - when you're sick of being vaporized by the turrets, you can try your hand at defending the WMD and leveling the playing field ... or at least your enemies.
A variation on the theme - choose one of 7 rugged maps. Your mission is threefold - gain control of solar panels positioned around the map that will power the rocket that waits to carry your Multiwinians out of the war zone; protect your rocket from the enemy Multiwinians seeking to thwart your launch; and once your rocket is fueled, load it full of your troops and blast off!
Careful though, each team is aware of your status and will really turn up the heat when your countdown starts.
Classic Capture the Flag, Multiwinian-style. On one of 7 maps, battle to conquer enemy flag points in succession, striving toward the enemy base. Once the base has been taken, that enemy is eliminated.
Watch out though - just because an enemy is eliminated from battle doesn't mean they can't still impact the outcome.
Multiwinia features "Retribution mode," offering eliminated players free crate drops every 60 seconds till the end of the game, to be deployed against whomever they feel deserves it...
