Think Galaxian or Galaga, and that's Swoop. Swoop has been updated with rendered graphics, giving it a shiny 3D look, and it includes the smooth gameplay and fantastic audio you'd expect from anything carrying the Ambrosia marque. Swoop's a fun game- as fun as Maelstrom or Apeiron- and just as basic. If you're looking for pure arcade action bliss and aren't too concerned about complexity and story line, it's a great diversion.

It's classic arcade fun, my friend. That means you don't win, you just keep playing to see how high a score you can get. You get points by blasting little bug like creatures out of the sky with your nifty little pod-like space ship. Every one you take down is worth X points. Sound simple? In concept, it is. But as is Ambrosia's style, there's plenty of little tricks in the bag.

Ambrosia Software strikes gold again when they make this Galaga remake, called Swoop. On a journey to another planet, they found an alien body in a cave, in fear, they destroyed the cave and the body with it. In turn, a signal was cast and it alerted a bug squadron, who in turn grows hostile. Now you must hold them off until help arrives (which is never) A game of survival as you destroy as many bugs as you can before they finally destroy all your ships.

Swoop, just imagine that old arcade space game Galatica on LSD. This excellent game takes all the characteristics of Galatica and pushes them beyond the threshold of excellent. Sit back and enjoy Swoop as your Marine issue ship wipes out those little alien bugs at the top of the screen, with weapons like The Dynamic Duo, Regan Shield and the Tactical Nuke, like's there's no tomorrow.
