the real issue there is that you can't use the microphone, right? this is certainly one of the most important features Snapz Pro used to have. Quicktime 10 which is free allows you to capture the screen and sound using the same Soundflower feature...

Yosemite Solution that Works

Download and install soundflower (it's 100% free but when installing be sure to reject add-on software). Before screen recording, go to System Preferences - Sound and select "Soundflower 2ch" for input and output. Leave preferences window open. Then activate Snapz. Do not select "mac audio" in Snapz preferences. Record from screen normally. Note: you will not be able to hear the audio but it is being recorded, you can confirm by watching sound levels on System Preferences window. When finished recording, save Snapz movie normally. Then change System Preferences - Sound back to "Internal Speakers" for output and "Internal Microphone" for input. You may have to click out of System Preferences to restore audio. Then watch the Snapz movie -- audio should have recorded. This is not a perfect solution because you cannot hear what is being recorded during recording, but it is a good fix until Ambrosia gets its act together.

Snapz Pro X 2.5.4

What a huge disappointment. I've used Snapz Pro for over a decade and have considered it a great utility. Now it will not work on Yosemite. The support website will not respond to questions. Are they working on this or not?

Alternatives to Snapz Pro

So it looks like we've all been abandoned by Ambrosia... I've used Snapz for my video work since 2007 and I think the time has come to assume they don't care about Snapz anymore...

So we need to have a serious discussion regarding alternatives out there that DO WORK WITH YOSEMITE!!!

Let's list them in the forum so we can move on from Ambrosia.

-I suspect Ambrosia won't give us our money back but if I were in marketing at a competing company I would offer a discount if I provide my Ambrosia licence code ~hint, hint~

Totally disappointed

Poor Customer Service

This is their response to my question about audio:

We are aware of the incompatibilities between Snapz and Yosemite and while there is an update planned for the near future we cannot give you an ETA of the release. That being said, we're hopeful the update will be released within the next couple weeks.'

That email was received on the 5th January 2015.

The definition of 'couple' .... ?

This works, so try it!

I tried it and it got it up and running again. I don't use it for audio or video, because I use Screenflow. But give it a shot.
