Is there a limit to the number of lives you can get in Deimos Rising?

You can have up to 10 lives, including the ship in use. You get a free life at the first 10,000 points, then 30,000 points, and then every 30,000 + 10,000 for each new ship, so each new ship is progressively harder to get.
