How do I print barcodes?

Last Updated Oct 4, 2012

The United States Postal Service uses the Intelligent Mail® Barcode to automate sorting and delivering business mail. Using a USPS® Barcode now requires a Mailer ID provided by the USPS®. Businesses can apply for a Mailer ID at the Business Customer Gateway of the USPS® website.

To print an Intelligent Mail® barcode:

  1. Go to the EasyEnvelopes menu and choose Preferences.
  2. Check the Print Intelligent Mail® Barcode option.
  3. Enter the 9 or 6 digit Mailer ID provided by the USPS®.
  4. Set the Service Type.

The next time you print an envelope your Intelligent Mail® barcode will be printed directly above the mailing address as per USPS® guidelines.

Due to customer demand, POSTNET (what the old widget used) support has been added in the 1.0.1 update released on October 4, 2012. Please note that POSTNET barcodes have been phased out by the USPS and they plan to stop scanning for POSTNET in January of 2013. The USPS will no longer be offering barcodes for consumers.
