Why can't I use my escorts for mission related cargo?

When accepting a mission that requires the transportation of cargo, you can only use the space on your ship for stashing away cargo. Cargo space on your escort ships can only hold commodity cargo for trading. An escort containing mission related cargo runs the risk of being destroyed, thus putting the mission in jeopardy. Your benefactors trust you, not your hired guns or escorts.
