How do I communicate with a planet?

The Land (default - l) key, selects the nearest planet or station. The 1 through 4 keys will select other available planets and stations in the system. Once you have the planet you wish to contact selected, press the Communicate (default - y) key and a dialog box will appear with the planet's response to your hail, along with different dialog choices.
