How do I play?

Last Updated Sep 21, 2006

Game Play
Hit the gas (default key - up arrow), turn the wheel (default keys - left, right arrows), and stomp on the brake (default key - down arrow) only when you have to!

All races can be in three modes - Simulation, Arcade, and Turbo Arcade.  Simulation mode is for the purists, featuring realistic physics, specific to each car. Arcade mode is for racers who just want to go fast.  Turbo Arcade mode is for racers who just want to go really, really fast.

Quick Races are single-player races against up to five AI racers, or even 12 AI racers with the Allow big-races option turned on in the Gameplay Options (more racers requires a faster computer).

Time Trials allow you to set your own single-lap record for any racetrack in any mode, and even compete against lap records from around the world.  When you race a time trial your personal best time for a single lap will be displayed, along with the world-record time for a single lap on that track.  In each time trial session you will race against a ghost car following your fastest lap for that session.  The top 40 times for each track in each mode will be posted in the Redline Hall of Fame online.

Multiplayer allows you to race against friends and foes alike over the internet.  Race up to 5 other racers, or even up to 12 racers with the Allow big-races option turned on in the Gameplay Options (a fast computer and a very fast internet connection is required for big races).
