Why can't I capture from a DVD?

Changes starting with Mac OS X Lion 10.7 may prevent you from capturing content that you we able to capture previously. Some content or sources will appear as a checkerboard pattern when using a screen capture utility, such as Snapz Pro X, while some of Apple's applications (i.e. DVD Player, iTunes, QuickTime, etc.) are open. You can try using an alternative media player such as VLC, but ultimately this is beyond our control. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
