Indicates the software was designed for Macs running OS 7, 8 and 9. Check the System requirements listed on the product page to check which versions of OS 7, 8 or 9 each specific product is compatible with. Software that was designed for Macs running OS 7,8 and 9 will run in Classic on Macs running OS X. Classic is an application that allows OS X to run software designed for OS 7, 8 and 9. As OS X evolves further and further from OS 7, 8 and 9, it becomes that much more difficult for Classic to smoothly emulate the older operating system, resulting in poorer performance for applications running in Classic. Apple no longer installs Classic by default. Classic will not work on Macs with the Intel processors.

Intel Compatiblity Keys |
Apple is migrating from PowerPC (G3-G5) processors to Intel processors. Unfortunately, some functions of an application may be dependent on instructions specific to the processor the application was originally designed to run on. This means some functions and features that work on a Mac with a PowerPC processor may not work as expected on a Mac with an Intel processor.
There are three levels of compatibility with Macs running the Intel processors:
Indicates the software was designed for Macs with either the Intel or PowerPC (G3-G5) processors. Software that is Intel native will work on Macs with a PowerPC processor and Macs with an Intel processor.
Indicates that although the software was not designed for Macs with Intel processors, all of the software's functions and features are fully emulated under Rosetta. Rosetta is part of OS X on the Intel Macs, and translates instructions specific to PowerPC processors into instructions Intel processors can understand. Software that is Intel compatible should work as expected on Macs with either PowerPC or Intel processors.
Indicates the software was not designed for Macs with Intel processors and some functions and features of the software cannot be emulated by Rosetta. Software that is Intel incompatible will lose some functions and features when run on a Mac with an Intel processor.
