Another handy depth switcher is Ambrosia Software's shareware ColorSwitch Pro, which adds a menu to the right edge of the menu bar, listing available bit depths. ColorSwitch also lets you change the Mac's speaker volume without going through the sound control panel.

Nothing does it quicker than ColorSwitch. As an added bonus, this same pull down menu also lets you set your speaker volume.

ColorSwitch is another winner from Ambrosia. Not only does it replace Apple's control strip, it provides more functionality. A modules folder added to the System Folder allows for even further customization!
