DEFCON Globe Screen Saver 1.0.0
Ambrosia Software presents a Mac OS X screen saver which displays the DEFCON globe rotating in all of its vector glory. Now your computer can dream of global thermonuclear war, even when idle!

If you are not already familiar with DEFCON, the game was inspired by the 1983 cult-classic film WarGames. DEFCON superbly evokes the tension, paranoia, and suspicion surrounding the Cold War era. The game was an instantaneous success, receiving an average of 85%+ in game reviews and scores of praise. PC Gamer UK described it as 'pure, deep, utterly unconscionable fun,' while IGN awarded DEFCON an Editors Choice Award and praised it as 'highly impressive.'

ScreenCleaner Pro 1.1.0
Over time, your LCD or CRT monitor will gradually fade in brightness and contrast. This fading is inevitable, because the backlights for LCD screens eventually fade, and the photo-reactive substrate on CRT monitors eventually degrades.

ScreenCleaner Pro rectifies this situation by altering the gamma of your monitor to compensate for monitor degradation, so it will look as good as new. Don't toss out that old monitor, just run ScreenCleaner Pro on it, and watch your old monitor gain a new life.

Simply let ScreenCleaner Pro run in the background, and it will automatically analyze your monitor's gamma curve and relative luminescence. After enough calibration data has been collected, ScreenCleaner Pro will adjust your monitor to like-new condition.

The analyzation/calibration process can take up to 10 minutes, but you can work normally while ScreenCleaner Pro is analyzing your monitor; simply let it run in the background.

4.5 gemsMacWorld gives ScreenCleaner Pro 4.5 gems!!

escapepod
Released: 1/10/2003
escapepod 1.0.0d3
escapepod is a little application that lets you terminate the frontmost application by hitting Control-Alt-Delete, terminate the Dock by hitting Shift-Control-Alt-Delete, or do a force-logout by hitting Command-Control-Alt-Delete.

There are times that Mac OS X appears to be hung (especially in some games) when it really isn't -- just the frontmost application's GUI is wedged. The Dock also occasionally stops responding under some circumstances, which can be cured by terminating it . Additionally, when the entire GUI appears to be hung, it is safer to do a force-logout than to simply reboot your machine (and it is quicker, too).

NOTE: escapepod is no longer needed (or functional) under MacOS X 10.3 and later; Apple built the functionality in escapepod into the operating system.

Stuffit Engine Fix
Released: 3/10/2000
Stuffit Engine(tm) Fix 1.0.0
We have discovered a bug in Claris Emailer that may cause a crash when another program tries to change the resolution or depth of the screen. This bug only surfaces under certain conditions:

  • Claris Emailer 2.0v3 or earlier
  • Stuffit Engine 4.x or earlier
  • Using Emailer to send or receive a compressed attachment
After sending the attachment, any program that tries to change the resolution or depth of the screen will likely crash. This includes the Apple Monitors control panel (or Monitors and Sounds), ControlStrip, ColorSwitch Pro, or any game that uses the Displ ay Manager or DrawSprocket to reconfigure the screen.

The bug itself may also cause other subtle side effects, but it should not destroy data on your disk. However, a system crash is much more likely to cause data loss or corruption.

This extension should fix this problem; please read the Stuffit Engine Fix - READ ME file before attempting to use it.
